.Jack didn’t want to tell Mr. Tushman why he punched Julian because if he told Mr. Tushman he punched Julian because he was saying mean things about August, then he would talk to Julian about it, and Julian will tell him that he also said mean things about August.
.Julian’s mom’s reaction doesn’t surprise me at all. She’s just being a rude, protective parent telling lies.
.Being at a lunch table all by himself made Jack feel like he had no friends and made him feel lonely.
.A hypocrite is somebody who might do something, and completely contradict what they did. Jack was a hypocrite because he liked being friends with Auggie but didn’t want to sit at the same table as him during lunch.
.Jack was worried about Auggie’s house because he thought Auggie’s family would hate him for what he did on Halloween.
.There are quite a few things that I take for granted. If you’re showing gratitude to a person, you should thank them or do something in return. If its more of a natural thing you’re showing gratitude for, like the Earth itself for example, it’s not really possible to show gratitude, but maybe something like taking care of it. There are plenty of things to do to show gratitude that I didn’t list, too.
